Los Angeles Times - 1956

In 1956 the Los Angeles Times announced, FRENCH PAINTER DESCRIBED AS MASTER OF LINE, COLOR. Robert Millier, the art critic reported,

"Jean Tabaud, globe-roaming French portrait painter and draftsman, exhibits through next Saturday at the Cowie Galleries. He is master of a flowing drawn line and rich, sensuous color.

"The majority of his portraits shown are of children or young girls. There are also a number of brother-and-sister portraits painted in Mexico, some Moroccan landscapes and a still life of fruit. All are as remarkable for sympathetic revelation of character and mood as for design and color.

"But the most sheerly delightful works are the drawings, among them a head of Pier Angeli and several of posed models."
